About the Bakersfield Salseros

The Bakersfield Salseros was formed by Dj Lorenzo and Tj Salsa Mama. Our goal has always been to build a community of Salsa Dancers who support each other, dance together and celebrate the joy of Salsa music.

Beginning Level 1 Salsa

Every Sunday at 3:00 pm.

Introduction to Salsa dancing with instructor TJ Salsa Mama.

Revolving Class  45 minutes long. This class is best suited to students with little or no experience with Latin Dance. Bare-Bones-Beginners. No partner necessary. No age limit. You can repeat this class as many times as you feel you need until you feel confident with on one  timing and footwork. The beginning salsa class changes each week adding a new elements to your salsa repetoire.

 No Prerequisite for Beginnning Salsa Level 1 .

Class content: Beggining footwork, frame, timing, turns, musicality, Beginning techniques and patterns.

 Cost: $5.00 per person.

Intermediate Salsa

Every Sunday at 4:30 pm.

Instruction for Progressive Intermediate Salsa dancing with instructor Luis de la Torre.

Prerequisite: Beginning Level 1 proficiency. Must know basic, cubano, right turn, left turn, copa, out of the way, crossbody lead turns and spins. good lead and follow techniques, form and frame, basic competence in timing and musicality.This fast pased class offers new timing and footwork warm up each week and a new pattern with style and flair for your intermediate salsa bag of tricks. You won't be disappointed.

Cost: $5.00 per person

Who We Are

DJ Lorenzo

Dj Lorenzo, "Bakersfield's God father of Salsa" is the entertainment director of the Bakersfield Salseros He and Tj work hard to provide Bakersfield salsa lovers with new and fun events. By promoting bands, dance instructors, planning parties and Salsa events he has been instrumental in  building the salsa community here in Bakersfield. He is one hot Salsa DJ in his own right, performing for local events the Doubletree's Latin night and for businesses here in the Kern County area. Call Lorenzo if you have an event you want to sizzle. 

Tj Salsa Mama: Tj is one of the founders of the Bakersfield Salseros. She has been dancing for 10 years developing her skills by taking lessons locally and in LA  with world class instructors training like "Edie the Salsa Freak "and through congress workshops on Salsa techniques. Tj loves to dance to Cha-cha, Merenge, Bachata, and Cumbia almost as much as she loves Salsa. More than anything Tj loves the social aspect of club style dancing and is very proud and supportive of our growing family of Salseros.

Tj offers lessons on Basic Salsa techniques, footwork, timing, styling, dance floor ediquite, partner work, intermediate patterns and techniques at the Doubletree Hotel's Club Odyssey Sundays at 3:00 and 4:30 pm.

Private lessons are available by appointment. 

Luis de la Torre: Luis is a colorful dance instructor who can lead as well as follow with style, passion, and latin expression on the dance floor. Luis comes to the Bakersfield Salseros as a Bakersfield Salsa veteran. He is an "OG" when it comes to teaching here in "B" town. Luis learned from high caliber dancer/instructors like Josie Neglia, Seaon Stylist, Johnny Vasquez, Alex Da Silva among others. Luis was one of the first instructors to bring the "LA Salsa Style" to Bakersfield. He believes that when you dance long enough you will develop your own style based on a combination of your "abilities and limitations". Luis is teaching an Intermediate Progressive Salsa Class at the Doubletree Hotel on Sundays at 4:30 pm.with the Bakersfield Salseros. "Welcome Back Luis!!!!"

Ed Rivera:   Ed's strong dance style in Salsa comes from a lifetime of dancing and perfecting his style. This makes Ed a great Dj for our Thrusday night venue. He picks only the most dancer friendly Salsa.   Thursday Night DJ for Hot Salsa in Bakersfield. As Ed would say "CHECK IT OUT!"
